Ajith said women in films should be given more respect: Kajal Aggarwal
Kajal Aggarwal also talks to us about her challenging scenes from the upcoming film Kavalai Vendaam.
Kajal Aggarwal is back in K’town with two movies Kavalai Vendaam with Jiiva and Ajith’s tentatively titled AK 57. The pretty actress who manages to juggle between Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films, was in the city to promote her rom-com Kavalai Vendaam, which has its emotional quotient intact. She opens up on how she could relate to the character she plays in KV, on Jiiva, on how she continued to cry despite the shot being over in the climax scene, and her admiration and respect for Thala Ajith!
“Director Deekay’s script for KV was awesome and Divya, the character I play, was unusual. I haven’t attempted such a character so far. I gave my nod immediately without any hesitation. Moreover, the film which is about relationships and heartbreaks, has the right blend of humour and modern day romance and emotions,” says Kajal as she begins her conversation. Speaking on how she could relate to the character Divya, she says, “Divya is a tough and bold girl and is independent. But she gets confused at times, which is exactly the kind of person I am. So, it was like I am reprising my real self on screen!” (laughs)
Heaping praises on her co-star, Jiiva, she says, “He is fun-loving and gave me lot of support on the sets. I could get my shots okayed in the first take because of Jiiva’s cooperation. We got along well and I think it might translate to our onscreen chemistry as well.” The actress also praises Deekay for his focus and says he knows what he wants from his artistes. The most challenging scene, she points out, was the climax portion — “It is a power-packed emotional scene where I have to cry. It was so touching and I was so engrossed in the scene that I could not stop weeping even after the director said cut!”
On working with Ajith in his upcoming 57th venture, Kajal says that it was a mind-blowing experience — “Right from day one, Ajith sir addressed me as Kajalji on the sets. I was surprised and told him that I was junior to him, and that he could call me by name! The reply which he gave raised my respect for him manifold. He said, ‘I will call you Kajal personally. But during shooting, the others in the unit would follow the lead actor and director only!’ He also added that he wanted things in our industry to change, and that women should be given the sort of respect that they deserve. I realised later that it’s how our industry works — when others also started addressing me as Kajalji too!” The Paayum Puli star neither confirmed nor denied about her teaming with Dhanush once again for Soundarya Rajinikanth’s second directorial venture Nilavukku Enmael Ennadi Kobam.
