More than I wanted to act in this magnum opus, I thought it was my duty to bring history to public through this film. The movie is a pure art form, which transcends the limitations of language and would be loved by audiences," remarked multiple national award winner Mammootty about his upcoming multi-lingual film Mamangam.

The film revolves around the Mamangam multicultural festival of the 18th century that is held in the banks of Bharathappuzha in the Malabar region once in 12 years. What started, as a religious festival later became a trade fair, as traders and craftsman from all over the world would come there. But sooner, the land got confined to war and supremacy.

Mammooty adds, "Today, we are watching many films from different languages, but emotions are universal that connect us all. Mamangam isn't a revenge story, but it will delve into the philosophy, where there's no point seeking revenge and is conveyed beautifully. I felt dubbing for Peranbu was much easier. Since this is a period film, I had to slog it out and director Ram, who has been entrusted with the job of Tamil dialogues won't leave me until I get the diction correct (Laughs)."

While Padmakumar directs the film, it has Prachi Tehlan as the female lead, with Unni Mukundhan, Ineya, Achuthan in crucial roles. The movie set to hit the screens on December 12 has ace Kamalakannan in charge of VFX.
