Suchitra clears the air
about all the drama happening on her Twitter account, and how she's tackling her detractors.
She’s been caught amidst a relentless social media attack for over a month now — and Suchitra Karthik Kumar has finally had enough. Barely a couple of weeks since her Twitter was ‘hacked’ for the first time, and a barrage of accusations against several actors from the industry was posted, yesterday, Suchi’s tweets were compromised again.
Private photos of actors such as Dhanush, Hansika and Trisha with incriminating captions were posted from her handle, which caused quite a stir among followers and fans alike, before the singer cleared the air yet again and temporarily
deactivated her account.
“I’ve really had enough. This is the work of someone who’s had a grudge against me for over a decade now, and they want to kick me when I’m down. They actually went as far ahead as hiring a company in Chennai to hack! Thankfully, I have a private cyber-investigator on my side who’s helped me out. But these series of systematically-planned attacks have gotten on my nerves. Ask anyone in the industry if I’m actually capable of posting such crazy things? But I got no support from the industry also,” she says, visibly upset.
But the victimising hasn’t stopped with the online controversy. Suchi claims that she was physically assaulted by someone right outside her door, while taking her dog for a walk — “That caused the bruise on my arm, and I posted a picture for everyone to see. I don’t think I’m in any immediate danger, but as of now, I’m keeping my door locked and staying put inside the house.”
She is enraged at the rumours circulating about her suffering from depression and seeking medical help. “Those are blatant lies, fabricated and circulated by the gang of detractors, aided by a well-known celebrity doctor who’s telling people that she’s treating me! I haven’t even swallowed one pill.”
Also addressing the posts on her feed about getting a divorce from her husband, theatre artiste Karthik Kumar, Suchi replies in the affirmative. She adds that she plans to pursue a culinary course at the Le Cordon Bleu London, later this year, after a performance tour.
“It’ll help me get away from all this nonsense. It’s been my dream always to be part of such a prestigious institution, and everyone knows cooking is a huge passion of mine. I was glad to accept the invitation,” she signs off.
