Basking in her success
Sanchana Natarajan, who has become famous for her performance in As I'm Suffering From Kadhal, has wowed us with her recent, glamourous photoshoot.
Sanchana Natarajan is getting used to being called ‘Divya’ wherever she goes these days. The young model-turned-actress is basking in the success of the popular web series, As I’m Suffering From Kadhal. Her character, Divya, has been a unanimous favourite and she has earned quite a huge following for her work. In a freewheeling chat with DC, Sanchana talks about how she relates to the theme of the series, her views on marriage and relationships, and her big on-screen debut.
“The attention that I’ve garnered is something I did not expect. But what is more exciting is that people come up to me and discuss my character at length,” starts Sanchana. This VisCom graduate first came into the spotlight when she participated in a talent show on TV during her college days, and won. This lead her to act in director Balaji Sakthivel’s yet-to-release film. She then got introduced to Balaji Mohan, with whom she worked in a short film titled Jeeboomba. Later, As I’m Suffering From Kadhal happened.
“You could say I’m 90 per cent of what Divya is. I too, believe in love, but marriage is a concept that I find hard to believe,” Sanchana says, talking about how marriage is viewed by her character in the series.
“Like every other girl, I too dreamed of a big wedding, but as I grew up, my views changed. I thought that people would assume my character was quite self- centered for not wanting marriage. I was surprised that the opposite happened! We even got tweets from many saying that the series has made them re-think marriage and relationships. In fact, even my parents found it logical and legitimate for someone to not want marriage,” she adds.
Talking about the latest photoshoot featuring her in an ultra-glam avatar, Sanchana says, “Abhay and I have been planning this for ages. I am quite hesitant about showing off too much skin, and I thought I was not ready to do something like this. Abhay gave me the much-needed confidence to take this up. That’s when I realised that it’s important to be happy and flaunt what you have. I love the way the photos have come out.”
Sanchana is happy about her upcoming projects. Apart from the sequel of the series, which is being planned, she is debuting in the biggie of all films — Rajinikanth’s 2.0! “Though it is a small role, my scenes are all with Rajini sir himself!.” She adds that she hopes to do films that are relatable to all. “If I do a character, I want it to be real and relatable to people who watch it,” she says, signing off.
