I prefer Tamil films to Tollywood: Anandhi
...claims Anandhi, and talks about her future projects and her challenging scene so far.
Anandhi, who made her debut in Tollywood, is now a busy girl in Tamil. The actress says she prefers K’town to Telugu as her comfort levels are good in the Tamil film fraternity. The Hyderabad-based girl was in the city to promote her film Pandigai (based on street fights). She also talks about a challenging scene in the movie, where she had to drink beer and slur! Here’s the Trisha Illena Nayantara star talking to us...
Role in Pandigai
I play a very bubbly girl Kavya, which is slightly different from my earlier soft-spoken characters. Krishna is my pair. Actress Vijayalakshmi ma’am has donned the producer’s hat. She took care of me very well on the sets and I have to thank her director husband Feroz, who has etched a good role for me. He also revealed that he had kept me in his mind while penning the script.
Challenging scene in Pandigai
In the trailer, I ask Krishna to get me beer. It was a challenging scene and I would ask beer for my hair wash, since it gives that extra shine to the hair! It’s a beauty tip that I have tried in real life as well. (laughs) There’s also a scene where, I get drunk and slur continuously. It was a tough scene and took me a few takes.
Kollywood or Tollywood?
Doing a Tamil film is much more comfortable and I get varied types of roles here. I come to Chennai while on work only. Moreover, I am pursuing MBA and academics is very important to me. I don’t want to do too many things at a time.
About her next, Pariyerum Perumal
It’s a beautiful story and I am playing a Tirunelveli girl. Directed by Maari Selvaraj, Kirumi fame Kathir is essaying my pair. I am confident that the film will earn me a good name after Kayal. Even Ranjith sir saw some of the rushes and said that I had done a great job.
Working with newcomers
For me, the script is very important. En Aaloda Serupa Kaanom is a rom-com and I loved the story. That’s why I didn’t look at who the hero is. If it works, Pasanga Pandi who plays the lead, will become a big hero.
A role sans makeup
Even when I go out for filmy functions, I don’t wear makeup. I play a roadside idli shop girl in Roobai and the role didn’t require any makeup. I have a beautiful face and I wouldn’t want to spoil it.
