Vidharth is getting the midas touch'
The Mynaa actor, who is basking in the film's success, says he had definitely expected the film to work well.
Vidharth’s choice of films is getting increasingly appreciated by critics and audience, especially after his recent film Kurangu Bommai, which has got a good reception. Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, the film also has Bharathiraja in a pivotal role. The Mynaa actor, who is basking in the film’s success, says he had definitely expected the film to work well.
“I have been increasingly getting good feedback about my choice of films. I basically want the scripts not only to be different, but also interesting. I don’t want it just to be another run-of-the-mill story about a villain and hero fighting,” Vidharth says.
He assures that with his next outings Vandi and Aayiram Porkasugal, he will continue to be in good books of filmmakers and audience — “Vandi’s screenplay will be a non-linear one and will be impressive. I feel with that film, audience will become more confident about going to my films.”
In his career, Vidharth has not shied away from acting in multi-starrer subjects like Veeram, Jannal Oram, and he is currently acting in Kodi Veeran, which has Sasi Kumar as the hero. He says that the roles matter more than anything else — “I want filmmakers to approach me for good roles. It doesn’t matter if it is the hero’s role or a small character. Rajini sir once told that he would have played a role in Mynna if the director had asked him, likewise everyone feels the same with many movies. I felt I should have played at least a small role in Maanagaram — it was such a wonderful movie.”
Vidharth is also acting as the lead protagonist in Bharathiraja’s film on demonetisation. Talking about working with the iconic filmmaker, he says, “Acting in his film is one experience, I think, all the actors should have. He brings out a different person in you. It is a fortune to act in his film!”
