Venkatesh comes out of his comfort zone
The director has also turned a producer with this movie, with Vinay, Subhiksha, Ryithvika in the lead.
Noted filmmaker turned actor A Venkatesh, known for his commercial potboilers, is for the first time trying his hands on an edge-of-the-seat crime thriller titled Nethra. The director has also turned a producer with this movie, with Vinay, Subhiksha, Ryithvika in the lead.
Actor-producer Thiagarajan has bought the rights of the film, shot entirely in Canada. “I visited Canada a few years ago to attend a function. When I landed at the airport, I noticed a young Tamil couple who were my co-passengers and who seemed very restless.
They did not have a phone and either and they seemed to have no money. I came to know that those who were supposed to receive them at the airport did not turn up and I could guess for some reasons they were scared of something. Though, I did not go deep into it, the incident was the inspiration to write Nethra’s script.
I just added my own fictional account and weaved the story I set in Canada”
On roping in Vinay, he says, “It has an anti-hero subject and no hero would want to touch the subject. He is a person who is a psychologically affected person who takes revenge in a unique manner. I wanted someone with an innocent face at the same time and Vinay fitted the role.”
The veteran also revealed that it is the first time Thyagarajan is releasing a film other than his son Prashanth’s. Venkatesh would soon be joining hands with actor Prashanth with whom he gave the hit film Chocolate.
