Peechankai deals with alien hand syndrome
Peechankai which was shot in and around Chennai is ready for release.
In the past, there have been several films that have addressed medical conditions like split-personality and bipolar disorder. Debutant director Ashok’s Peechaankai, a dark comedy, is one such film which talks about alien hand syndrome — where a person experiences their limbs acting on their own, without any control.
On sharing details about the film, Ashok says, “The hero played by RS Karthik is a pick-pocket who suffers from alien hand syndrome after he meets with an accident. Several situations force him to join a kidnapping gang and how he manages to fit in the gang despite his malfunctioning hand forms the story. After he joins the gang, the story takes a different direction.”
Ashok, a software engineer-turned-filmmaker is producing the film himself along with cinematographer PG Muthaiah’s PG Media Works banner. “I did a telefilm of the same name and due to creative differences, we couldn’t work with other producers. RS Karthik who played the lead in the telefilm has been retained in the feature film as well and Anjali who played STR’s sister in Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada essays his romantic interest,” he quips.
