Versatile actor Pavel Navageethan turns filmmaker
What did his mentor Vetri Maaran, who unveiled the first look, say, we wonder.
Actor Pavel Navageethan, known for his power-packed roles in films like Vada Chennai, Madras, Magalir Mattum, makes his directorial debut with an investigative thriller. Talking about V1, his directorial debut, an excited Pavel says, “I came to the industry to direct films, but acting beckoned to me. I waited for the right script and finally zeroed down on V1. The story revolves around a cop (played by Arun Castro) who has been entrusted with the unravelling of a complicated murder case that takes place at door no. V1 of an apartment complex. But the twist is that he suffers from nyctophobia (fear of darkness).” Actress Vishnupriya plays the female lead in the film. “She also plays a female cop who helps Arun in his investigations. The story is inspired from real-life incidents. I have narrated the story in a non-linear fashion in the film,” Pavel adds.
So far, very few investigative thrillers have taken on forensic sciences in a detailed manner, but we’re told by the director that V1 deals with it exhaustively. “We took extensive references from the forensic department and met many police officers before commencing the project,” says Pavel.
What did his mentor Vetri Maaran, who unveiled the first look, say, we wonder. “He watched the film and was very happy with its outcome. He’d also given small suggestions even as I’d narrated the script to him,” he says.
Lijesh, Mime Gopi, Linga, Gayathri and Monica are part of this film, whose cinematographer is Krishna Shekar and music composer is Roni Raphael.
