Ever since Shruti Haasan opted out of Sangamithra, the guessing game of who would replace her in the titular role has been going on. It has been over two months since Shruti walked out of the project, due to reasons that are still being debated about. Since then, many names including Nayanthara’s have been discussed to be associated with the project. Recently, it was widely reported that Hansika is in consideration to be a part of the film, and this news was neither confirmed nor denied by the names involved.

But now, sources close to the film unit have confirmed that Hansika will not be a part of Sangamithra. “She is not acting in the film, and the casting process is still on. The actress might be someone who is new and fresh to the Tamil audiences,” the source shares.

The film, which has Jayam Ravi and Arya as the lead actors, was officially announced at the prestigious Cannes film festival earlier this year. It is also being speculated that Sathyaraj, post his super successful stint in the Baahubali franchise, will play a major role in the epic as well. Directed by Sundar C, the film will be one of the costliest Tamil films made, with music by AR Rahman, cinematography by Tirru, sound design by Resul Pookutty and art direction by Sabu Cyril.
