Still from Saithan

Vijay Antony’s highly-anticipated flick Saithan has been dragged into controversy after the release of its teaser. Even though the promo teaser was well received, it did not escape the eyes of a dispute. Reportedly, a few Hindu religious groups were upset about the Sanskrit chants, which feature as background music in the teaser and have demanded for them to be removed.

To respect the sentiments of those who protested, the music director-turned-actor decided to delete objectionable lines from the teaser and re-release it.

In a clarification issued by Vijay Antony, he has said, “I heard that a few lines in the teaser of Saithan, which were written by the late lyricist Annamalai, sounded like Sanskrit verses and has hurt a few individuals. Heeding to their request, I have decided to withdraw those lines immediately. As a result of this, you will not find the teaser of Saithan on my Facebook, YouTube or Twitter page.”
