Tamil filmmakers resort to several quirky ideas and methods to promote their films. The makers of the medical thriller film titled Owdatham, a pure Tamil word for medicine, have decided to gift 3 lakh pens with ‘Owdatham’ engraved on them to those who come to the theatre.
Nethaji, who plays the hero and also bankrolls the film, says, “I wanted to take a quirky subject for my maiden venture. I came across an article in a newspaper that a banned medicine was once again available in medical stores with the ban lifted. I was curious to know how this can happen. A series of researches led to the startling revelation in medical (drugs) industry. The film will create awareness to people while buying medicines.”
Directed by Ramani, the Delhi model Sameera debuts as Nethaji’s pair. A massive Owdatham pen was launched with celebrities like Bhagyaraj, Perarasu and A. Venkatesh along with the film’s team taking part in it. The crew will also insist to sign in your mother tongue Tamil while distributing the pens.
