I am proud to see Vikram producing on his own: Prabhu
Taking Kamal Haasan's advice, Vikram did a six-month course in New York.
Actor Prabhu is a proud dad today, as his son Vikram Prabhu is venturing into production on his own. At the official launch of First Artist production house, the Sivaji family revealed the first look of Neruppu Da, starring Vikram Prabhu and Nikki Galrani in the lead roles. Directed by debutant Ashok, this film has cinematographer RD Rajasekar, music director Sean Roldan, and art director Prabhakar on board.
Recalling how the logo of First Artist production house came up, Prabhu said, “He studied theatre and arts in San Diego and when he came back, he expressed his interest to become a director. Taking Kamal Haasan’s advice, Vikram did a six-month course in New York. He then assisted Vishnuvardhan in Billa. That is when he created the logo of First Pictures with a photo grab of his grandfather Sivaji’s epic scene from Parasakthi. It was his dream to become a director.”
Vikram plays a fire officer in Neruppu Da and he is an ardent Rajini fan as well. Therefore, the team was considering titles like ‘Thee’ and ‘En Vilaku’ for the title.
“That is when S. Thanu graciously offered the rights of Neruppu Da from his production Kabali. Thanu wanted to launch Vikram Prabhu, but it did not materialise. Considering the respect he has for our family, Thanu was kind enough to lend the title,” he added. Prabhu also stated that he dedicates this film to Thanu, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan and Ajith, who have helped him and Vikram in their life.
As a doting father, Prabhu believes that it is every parent’s duty to nurture the dreams of their children — “I am very happy to see Vikram turning producer. Neruppu Da has already started doing its business. First Artist is a branch of Sivaji’s legacy and I truly wish Vikram success!”
