No rivalry between Siva and Vijay: Sathish

It’s all about actor Sathish this weekend. All the three big releases —Sivakarthikeyan’s Remo, Vijay Sethupathi’s Rekka and Prabhudeva’s comeback film Devi(l) — feature him in significant roles. “However, my role in Devi(l) is a cameo of sorts,” he confirms adding, “We have tried something different that will surely have the audience in splits,”
Touching upon the speculated rivalry between upcoming stars Siva and Sethuapathi, he points out, “There is no such thing at all. We all are pretty good friends. These are unnecessary rumours.”
He heaps praise on Sivakarthikeyan for his painstaking efforts in Remo — “It might seem simple to play a nurse. But he has spent hours with the make-up — so many hairpins that his head looked something like an agarbathi stand! He endured it all.”
Elaborating on his chemistry with the Kaaki Sattai actor, he clarifies, “It is very organic, since we grew up in the industry together. Also, the role should render the opportunity. That’s very important.”
On Rekka, he says, “It is different from my other characters because I do more than just comedy.” Sathish used to work as a writer with Crazy Mohan earlier — and still holds a good rapport with his troupe. “Recently, when an artist was not able to make it to Crazy Mohan sir’s drama Maadhu Plus 2, he asked me to be there in 30 minutes. Fortunately, I reached on time. Since I knew all the dialogues by heart, it turned out well too! I owe all my skills to that stage and my mentor,” he smiles.
