Actor Jai's driving licence suspended
Rs 5,200 fine for drunk driving case.
Chennai: A city court on Saturday ordered for Actor Jai's driving licence to be suspended for six months in connection with a drunk driving case against the actor. The Magistrate also levied a fine of Rs5,200 against the actor, which he paid. Earlier, senior civil judge, L. Abraham Lincoln had issued a non-bailable warrant against Jai on Thursday after he failed to appear before the court. The actor was supposed to appear in the Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Saidapet.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, the 34-year-old actor along with his advocate appeared before the magistrate around 9 am. Police sources said that the actor was made to wait in the court complex for about six hours before being awarded the punishment. "Since his case was not listed for today, the magistrate told that his case would be taken up only post noon. It eventually came up for hearing around 3 pm," a police official said.
The 34-year-old actor, who is also a professional car racer, was booked by the Adyar traffic investigation wing after he rammed his luxury car onto the Adyar Bridge on the night of September 21. It is to be noted that the actor had similar flashback incidents- twice in 2014. While he was booked by the Guindy traffic police in an incident on April 13 that year wherein he rammed his vehicle onto the bridge near Kasi theatre, he was fined and let off in another incident six months laternear Mylapore.
