When DC called actor Ramya Krishnan, she seemed distraught following the demise of her uncle Cho Ramaswamy on Wednesday.

“What do I say? Uncle was there as a pillar of strength for our family. It is sad to see both my big inspirations — Amma Jayalalithaa and Cho uncle - passing away one after the other,” she said with a choking voice. When asked about one quality she likes in him, she replies, “I love his wits and everything about him. He never minces words and always straight forward”. Ramya admits that Cho did not approve of her coming to films. “He never liked me entering the film industry.

But over a period the difference of opinion faded and he came to watch my film with Rajinikanth sir Padaiyappa. We sat together and watched the movie, it was an unforgettable day for me. After watching the film with a smile he complemented me in his usual style ‘nice Madam! you have done a good job’. I was floored”.

She does not frequent his house. “I was busy with my films and whenever I get time I and my mom used to visit uncle. But he never talks to me much. Right from childhood I am very scared of him, in a sense, he was such commanding figure in our household”
