I'd love to work with Mani Ratnam: Nivetha Pethuraj
Speaking about Oru Naal Koothu, Nivetha tells us that her character is called Kavya, a strong-minded IT professional.
Chennai-based Miss India UAE 2015, Nivetha Pethuraj, is excited about her Kollywood debut Oru Naal Koothu, directed by Nelson Venkatesan. She plays one of the female leads in the Dinesh-starrer, alongside Mia George and Ritwika.
“I love Tamil movies and have always wanted to be an actress. I was quite particular that I make my acting debut in a Tamil film because I am more comfortable in my mother tongue. After winning the pageant, I came to Chennai.
Though I’ve been in Dubai for more than a decade, my native is Madurai. One of the reasons I think why the makers chose me is because I am fluent in Tamil. I’d read the script a number of times to be convinced of my role and I was confident about it,” she says.
Speaking about Oru Naal Koothu, Nivetha tells us that her character is called Kavya, a strong-minded IT professional. “We shot in and around Chennai in places like OMR. The story revolves around three different episodes and some questions, which arise when we talk about marriage. My portion is sort of a romantic-comedy. The present-day audience can easily relate themselves to this film,” she adds. The model-actress was all praise for the crew. “They never made me feel like a newcomer. I was very comfortable on the sets. I got to learn a lot from everybody. In fact, I couldn’t have asked for a better debut,” she smiles.
Though Nivetha has been getting offers, she hasn’t signed any other film. “I am waiting for Oru Naal Koothu to get released. Then, I’ll decide accordingly,” she says. Quiz Nivetha on her favourites, and pat comes the answer — “I would love to work with Mani Ratnam sir some day. Among actresses, I like Simran and Nayanthara. I am also a huge Ilayathalapathy fan,” she concludes.
