STR dropped from Maanadu
The producer of the film, Suresh Kamatchi, has officially confirmed the news through a statement.
It looks like controversy has become the middle name for Silambarasan Rajhendar aka STR. The actor is in news once again as he is no more a part of the much-anticipated political thriller Maanadu, a film that Venkat Prabhu announced last year. Kalyani Priyadarshan was brought on board as STR’s pair.
The producer of the film, Suresh Kamatchi, has officially confirmed the news through a statement. The film was to go on floors last February. Then, it was reported that Maanadu would begin in May after the wedding of Simbu’s younger brother Kuralarasan. It did not take off then also.
In fact, Simbu was said to have shed oodles of weight to look his part and is kicked about the script of Maanadu. He went to London for martial arts training, and after his return, he went to work for his cameo role in Hansika’s Maha. Yet again for the third time, when it was said that Maanadu might begin shooting in June, the actor joined the shoot of his upcoming Gnanavel Raja’s film with Gautham Karthik.
Sources close to the producer revealed that Suresh was irked by the undue delay and STR’s unethical behaviour. “STR did not honour the dates, which were committed to Suresh, but had moved to other films. So, Suresh whose plans were going haywire took the decision not to make Maanadu with Simbu”, adds the source.
Suresh also stated that he would start the film soon with another hero. He thanked STR’s fans for their constant support all these days. The actor enjoys a huge fan base. Ever since the news on STR not to be a part of Maanadu was out, the fans expressed their anguish and disappointment on their social media handles.
