Despite coming from a filmy background and being highly talented, Vikranth is yet to get the due recognition he deserves. He was appreciated for his work in Paandiya Naadu, which was directed by Suseenthiran, and though he did a few movies like Thondan later, the actor believes he will get the real break with his new image makeover in Susee’s upcoming flick Nenjil Thunivirundhal. He speaks to DC about his role in NT among other things.

“Nenjil… has a gripping script and the director has approached it with a social concern. It is about the friendship between two people. Paandiya Naadu turned out to be a visiting card to me and I was excited when Suseenthiran sir called me again. It was a happy journey sharing screen space with Sundeep Kishan, Soori and Harish Uthaman,” Vikranth says.

On his image makeover (he has shed few kilos now) in terms of character as well about looks he reveals, “It was my mentor Susee sir’s idea. He told me that I always look the same in most of my films and wanted a different look. He even changed my angry young man image and decided to portray my character as a cool, calm and a humorous person.  I also sport spectacles in the film.”

On Susee he says, “He is my guru, I’m ready to even act in a guest role if he calls me. He is like a brother to me and is always concerned about my career. I am indebted to him.”

Vikranth has also replaced Vishnu Vishal in Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu 2, a sequel to earlier blockbuster of Suseenthiran.

“As we started Nenjil… Susee sir told me that we are doing Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu 2 next. He said Vishnu dies in the first part and that I will have to replace him in the second part. Selva Sekaran directs the movie. I’ve formally learned Kabadi to act in this film.  Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu 2 should be on par with part one and I feel that I have a lot of responsibility in making it as good as the first part. After acting in multi hero subjects like Kavan, Thondan, Gethu, Nenjil Thunivirundhal, it gave me immense happiness to to get on board for a solo hero subject VKK 2,” Vikranth signs off!
