From TV to silver screen
Her debut film Savarakathi, directed by Mysskin's brother GR Adithya, is yet to release.
Swathishta, an anchor of a popular TV channel, is now shifting to the silver screen with three films in her kitty. Her debut film Savarakathi, directed by Mysskin’s brother GR Adithya, is yet to release, but Swathishta has already bagged two other films which include Jiiva’s Kee.
“I once interviewed Mysskin sir regarding Pisaasu, and he liked me and asked if I was interested in acting. So, that’s how it all started. I have got several other chances even before Savarakathi, but back then I was not interested in acting,” she begins.
Adding further about the film, she says, “I play the second female lead in the film. It was a demanding role and at times it was so tiring that I thought of giving up on acting altogether.”
She has also played the female lead in a small-budget film called Madham, which deals with serious social issues. “The film has been made aiming for international awards. It is a new team with good talent and I think it will be releasing this year.” she quips.
When asked if her anchoring experience helped in acting — “I have been into acting even in school. So, stage fear and facing an audience were not my problems. However, to deliver what the director wants has been a difficult job.”
Talking about Kee, she states, “Initially, I was skeptical about playing the hero’s friend. Later, the depth of the role impressed me and it is also has a lot of impact in the story.”
Ask her if she has given up on anchoring for acting, and she denies saying, “I still do shows. It is not like I have quit it altogether as it is something I can lean on.”
