The Nadodigal director is now busy with the scripting of the Malayalam version along with Padma Kumar.
Actor cum director Samuthirakani’s Appa received accolades from audiences and critics as well. The film, which is about how parents raise their children, was widely appreciated for its realism. Now, the film is all set to be remade in Malayalam, by Samuthirakani.
The Nadodigal director is now busy with the scripting of the Malayalam version along with Padma Kumar. “I have roped in Jayaram and Asha Sharath for important roles. We are planning to commence shooting by the end of November. Currently, we are in the process of finalising the rest of the cast,” says Samuthirakani
About roping Jayaram, the director explains, “Kalidas suggested his father watch Appa. Jayaram saw the film and appreciated the content. He then expressed his interest in doing the film in Malayalam.”
Samuthirakani also admitted that he has made minor changes to the script according to Malayalis’ sensibilities. “ We did not change the core concept of Appa but small changes have been made to the story,” he concludes.
