Vijay Devarakonda plays a tough character in Nota
Mehreen Pirzada will be seen as Vijay Devarakonda's romantic interest.
Vijay Devarakonda, the Tollywood heartthrob who is making his Tamil debut with a movie Nota, was in the city for its launch. Making a style statement with his black dhoti (similar to what Sabarimala pilgrims wear) with a muslin kurta and a denim jacket replete with pure white shoes, the young actor enthralled the huge gathering by starting his speech with a couplet from Thirukural. He began with ‘Enni thuniga karumam thuninthapin ennuvam enbathu izhukku’ which means ‘Think wisely before you exercise an action. Having done so, however, never look back and regret’.
“Yes, I have taken this stand having accepted a Tamil movie. I met producer Gnanavelraja sir a couple of times and he was asking if I could do a Tamil film with him. I never wanted to act in a language I am not familiar with. But he insisted that I listen to Anand Shankar’s script. Initially, I was too tired from continuous shoots and could not give my full attention to Anand, but I felt something interesting was there and told him to give the narration after a week and when he did so I was literally hooked with the script and gave my instant nod”.
He asserted, “The love from Tamil Nadu made me want to do a bilingual (Tamil-Telugu) and I promise you that you will see my performance in my own voice,” Ending his speech in a lighter vein, he said, “I am here in Chennai and decided to work in the superhot weather for next three months. Nevertheless, as I said before there’s no looking back (smiles)”.
Anand Shanakr of Arima Nambi and Iru Mugan fame who directs the film said, “Because of his extraordinary acting skills, irrespective of any language, anyone would love to watch Vijay’s movies. He plays a badass guy in the movie-a bold character with devil-may-care attitude in this politically intense drama. Sathyaraj sir will be seen in a crucial role something like Amitabh Bachchan did in Sarcar. He will be sporting a look similar to late veteran journalist Gnani.”
Mehreen Pirzada will be seen as Vijay Devarakonda’s romantic interest. This is her second film in Tamil after Nenjil Thunivirundhal.
