Sema heroine wants to take it slow'
Arthana is a student of journalism but she was pretty convinced about turning actor right from her childhood.
Arthana, who was last seen in Samuthirakani’s Thondan, is now the heroine of GV Prakash’s upcoming film Sema. The actress who has opened her account in all three major South film industries — Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam — speaks to us about Sema, her co-star GV Prakash and her other project Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu 2.
Arthana is a student of journalism but she was pretty convinced about turning actor right from her childhood. After her ventures in modeling and anchoring, she made her debut in Telugu film Seethamma Andalu Ramayya Sitralu and went on to act in Malayalam film Mudhugavu. She was then waiting for a good script — “That’s when I came across this opportunity to act in Sema. The director Vallikanth came all the way to my house in Kerala to do a screen test and it all panned out well. I play the girl-next-door role in the film.”
About music composer-actor GVP, she says, “He is well-known in Kerala for his music and also his films. During the initial days of shooting, he kept mostly to himself and we didn’t talk at all. But then we became good friends. As a performer, he works with ease.”
Arthana is also playing a lead in Vanilla Kabbadi Kuzhu 2 —“Actually, the first movie I signed in Tamil was Vanilla… but however, Thondan turned out to be my debut since it got out first. We are done with the first schedule of shooting as of now.”
Though offers are coming for her from Tollywood and K’town, Arthana says she is not behind large number of films but wants to do good characters and will take it slow.
