Chennai: Actor Kajal Agarwal filed an appeal before the Madras high court, challenging the order of a single judge which dismissed her application seeking Rs 2.5 crore as damages from V.V.D & Sons P Ltd for allegedly misusing her profile for promoting its products, including coconut oil. A division bench comprising Justices Rajiv Shakder and N.Sathishkumar before whom the appeal filed by Kajal came up for hearing, granted an interim injunction till the disposal of the application. Seeking to set aside the order of the single judge dated July 3, 2017, Kajal, in her appeal also sought an interim injunction restraining VVD & Sons from utilising her profile for their business advertisements in any manner.

She submitted that the order of the single judge was not based on law and the facts of the case. Her profile was misused beyond the period permitted under the contract. The single judge had taken a different view as the said violation was authorised under law, she added.
