Thank God, you were not born as a man. Otherwise, we heroes would have been nowhere”, remarked Superstar Rajinikanth after watching a few high octane action sequences of Sai Dhanshika from  her upcoming female centric flick Yogi Da, where she essays an upright cop. Sai Dhanshika met Rajini on the sets of Darbar at Jaipur.

‘Yogi’ is the  name of Sai Dhanshika’s character in Rajini’s gangster film Kabali, where she played his daughter in a power packed role of a professional killer. Not only her performance was critically acclaimed, but Dhanshika’s looks also came in for praise.

An excited Sai Dhanshika says, “Life has been bliss after Kabali. People all over the globe started recognising me and call me ‘Yogi’. For the fans, ‘I am Thalaivar’s Ponnu’ and everyone wants to take pictures with me. That is the mesmerising popularity Superstar has throughout the world. So, it was but natural that when my uncle Arun wanted to make a film with me portraying the titular role in his home banner Jatpatma Cinemas, Yogi Da was our obvious choice for the title.”

We were waiting for a chance to meet Superstar and take his blessings for my first action venture, she adds. “Recently, I and my uncle had been to Ajmer Dargah. We came to know Rajini sir was shooting for Darbar in Jaipur, where AR Murugadoss was canning a song sequence. We had asked for time to meet him and he asked us to meet him at his hotel. We then told him about our film Yogi Da and he was very happy for me and smiled after learning about the title. He enquired eagerly about my role and how the film was shaping. We had some footage from Yogi Da on my laptop and asked if he could spare time to see them. After watching one of the lengthy action sequences, Thalaivar said in his inimitable style, ‘Your immense efforts are seen. I think I should thank God, for you are not a man, otherwise you would have overshadowed heroes like us’. For a minute, I had Goosebumps! Imagine a Superstar of his stature to speak in such a humble manner (shrugs).” Reportedly, Rajini also wished her all success and told her that he would pray for her as well.

The action entertainer Yogi Da is directed by Gautham Krishna, a former associate of ace Sibi Malayil and Chakri Toleti.
