Marina Puratchi an experience to remember - Shruti Reddy
Shruti, a product of Anupam Kher’s Acting School and a trained classical dancer as well, says shenever dreamt of getting into films.
Model-turned-actress Shruti Reddy is thrilled by her experience of playing a sensitive role in Marina Puratchi, a film on the historic 2017 pro-Jallikattu protests.
Shruti, a product of Anupam Kher’s Acting School and a trained classical dancer as well, says shenever dreamt of getting into films. “While I was doing my postgraduation, I got modelling offers. People told me I have an expressive face and that I should try for film roles. But I didn’t want to jump into acting. That’s why I waited to go to Mumbai to start my stint in films.”
“MS Raj, the director of Marina Puratchi, was looking out for a new face when he chanced upon my picture,” says Shruti. “He did a test shoot and was happy with the outcome. When he gave me the script of MP, I was floored by the extreme detailing that had gone into it. I play a documentary filmmaker in the movie.”
The film, based on the spontaneous and largely peaceful mass agitation favouring Jallikattu staged mostly on Chennai’s iconic Marina Beach, was denied censor certification multiple times and finally, the court had to intervene to resolve the issue.
Shruti says she has a few offers from Tamil and Telugu films, but will take on anything new only after MP’s release. “I want to work in films with good content”, she explains.
