Ramakrishanan, who started his career as an assistant to ace director Cheran, debuted as a hero later in the Kunguma Poovum Konjum Puraavum. The film received critical acclaim although it was only an average grosser. The talented actor, who also directed the movie Pongadi Neengalum Unga Kadhaalum, is yet to get the big break in films and he is hoping to break the jinx with his upcoming rom-com, interestingly titled Tea Kadai Bench in which Tharushi plays opposite to him.
Speaking on Ramakrishnan, national award winning director Pandiraj said, "I and Ram started our career together as assistants to Cheran sir. He is the only close friend with whom I share lot of things and vice-versa. He would pose as if he was very studious and be present on the sets before time and was always in the good books of Cheran. We were more than four assistant directors to Cheran sir, but all the actresses would interact with him only." Punning, he said, "We should learn lot of things from him as he is an all-rounder."
Pandiraj also revealed that when he became independent and did Pasanga, he had offered the role that Vimal did, but Ram could not take it as he had signed Kunguma Poovum…..as the lead hero.
Those present at the audio launch event of Tea Kadai Bench included Samdhrakani, Chithra Lakshman and 'Patti Mandram' Raja The film is directed by Ram Sevaa and the creative poster of the film's title, designed with a tea glass on a bench with the word 'Kadai' on top, came in for a heap of praise. Sree Sai Dev composes the music.
