Appukutty upset that Vaazhga Vivasayi couldn’t make it to Pongal
This is the month for farmers, and Pongal is celebrated as the harvest festival: Appukutty.
I National award winner Appukutty is saddened that he could not bring his film Vaazhga Vivasayi, which talks about the plight of farmers and the politics behind it, to theatres on Pongal, due to the release of Darbar.
Appukutty says, “This is the month for farmers, and Pongal is celebrated as the harvest festival. We have completed our film and thought it would be an ideal time to release VV. I am upset it could not hit the marquee as planned. However, when a big budget film like Darbar that features big stars like Rajinikanth was hitting the screens, we did not want to take a chance. If we release our film at this time, it might affect our box office collection, and there’s a chance that it might not get due recognition. Moreover, getting theatres for small films is always difficult, especially alongside a biggie. Looks like this film on the farmer will face struggles for release, just as farmers are stressed in real life.”
The film has actress Vasundhra playing his pair.
