Varsha goes to Tollywood
Known for her Dubsmash videos, she was labelled as Nazriya Nazim's doppelganger, which bagged her film opportunities.
It has been a year and a half since Varsha Bollamma had a release in Tamil. Known for her Dubsmash videos, she was labelled as Nazriya Nazim’s doppelganger, which bagged her film opportunities.
Sathuran was her last release and she is pinning her hopes on three films that are at different stages of production. “It’s been a long time since I had a release. Ivan Yaarendru Therigiradha is expected to release next month and it would be good to see myself back on screen. In this hiatus, I don’t think people have forgotten me,” she begins her conversation.
Varsha portrays the role of a sub-inspector in Ivan Yaarendru Therigiradha, which has TV actor Vishnu playing the lead. “People say that I have an innocent look and many were apprehensive about my role in the movie. Some even questioned whether I can pull off the character or not. I think I did justice to the film. It is not an action entertainer, but a comedy film,” she shares.
However, in her next project Seemanin Seemati, Varsha takes the village route by playing a naive girl in a village. She quips, “Even in a rural film like Vetrivel, I wore churidhars. But, in Seemanin..I am seen in paavadai-sattai and it was difficult to imbibe the body language. The film is in post-production.”
Talking about her Telugu debut, her eyes light up. “I got the opportunity a year back, but the shoot got postponed for unknown reasons. I play a bubbly girl which I haven’t done so far in my career. At this point, I won’t be able to reveal much. I am paired opposite a popular actor and we start shooting from June,” she adds.
