Chennai: Recently director Ramesh Selvan announced his next film, titled Swathy Kolai Vazhakku, which was based on the sensational murder of techie Swathy at Nungambakkam railway station by a stalker Ramkumar last year, which shook the entire state. Later, when Ramkumar was apprehended, he committed suicide by ‘pulling and biting into a live electric wire’ inside the Puzhal Central Prison.

Meanwhile, Swathy’s father Santhana Krishnan filed a petition twice at the DGP office to stay the film and to arrest the director. Reportedly, Ramesh Selvan appealed for an anticipatory bail at the high court, the case was dismissed. Under such circumstances, he called for a press conference where he stated that he had changed the title to Nungambakkam.

He told DC, “According to the new rules in Censor Board if a case is sub-judice and if anyone tries to make a film based on the real life incident, they cannot censor the film. So, we made a few changes in the script, added few fictional scenes and changed the name also.”

He asserted that the movie is not against Swathy, Ramkumar or police force. “There is no scene about either Swathy’s family or Ram-kumar’s family. Neither have I projected anything about Swathy's and Ramkumar's personal life.” The film will be sent to the censor board in 15 days for  certification and will hit the screen  in August, Ram-esh added.
