GV Prakash Kumar, who has several films in his kitty, takes on a rural avatar in his upcoming flick Sema directed by Vallikanth, a former associate of Pandiraj.  Set in Trichy, the film has Arthana Binu who debuted with Samuthirakani’s Thondan as his romantic pair.  Produced in Pandiraj’s home banner, the film’s screenplay is written by Pandiraj himself.

“The film is inspired from real-life incidents that took place at director Vallikanth’s friend’s marriage. I play the character of Kuzhandai who sells vegetables in a market.  The film is a full-fledged comedy and a simple entertainer. I have attempted Trichy slang, which was interesting for me.”

On his co-star Arthana he says, “She is very talented. Though she hails from Kerala, she rehearsed meticulously and got her lines perfectly.”

Yogi Babu who plays a supporting role has simply rocked in the film, he adds.

When we prod on Bala’s Naachiyaar, Prakash, who till then was talking in a free flowing manner gets cautious — “With Bala sir, there’s toughness in each scene you perform. You can’t go just act and come out. He puts in a lot of effort to elevate a particular sequence. He is a master of creating characters that are close to reality, and the impact is such that the characters would stay with the audiences.”

Heaping praises on Jyothika, GVP says, “She is a very positive person. A wonderful and the best co-star! She has no airs around her, and if you perform well, she would come and appreciate your work instantly.”

Having shot in Chennai and Tanjore in various slum areas, Prakash says, “We shot in a lot of live location and when we saw the visuals we couldn’t differentiate the stars from the audience. He is an expert in it. It was an awesome experience working with him.”
