I want to do what Alia Bhatt does in B'town: Megha Akash
She counts herself lucky as she got to work with experienced directors.
Megha Akash’s debut flick Oru Pakka Kathai, directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan, is yet to hit the screens, but her hands are already full with a couple of biggies including an untitled flick of Suseenthiran’s (featuring Udhayanidhi Stalin, Vishnu Vishal and Manjima Mohan) and Gautham Menon’s Ennai Nokki Paayum Thota, alongside Dhanush. Says Megha, “We started shooting Susi sir’s film only on Monday. I play a college girl in the film and I am paired opposite Vishnu. Friendship, love and family are the central themes of this story. What is unique about this film, is that it is a story that has not been told this way before.”
The soft-spoken actress adds that she counts herself lucky as she got to work with experienced directors in the initial stages of her career. “Be it Suseenthiran sir or Gautham sir, they are my mentors — I am following my directors’ instructions to the hilt. They totally put me at ease straightway by asking me to be my natural self, instead of overdoing things,” she tells us. Speaking about Dhanush, Megha says that he’s an amazing co-star. “I have never seen a more humble star than Dhanush. In fact, he taught me many things on the sets,” she smiles. Quiz her on what kinds of roles she wants to do, and she replies, “I want to do (here) what Alia Bhatt does in Bollywood!”
“Though there have been no dearth of offers, I am particular about choosing the right films and viable projects at this stage in my career, so I’m proceeding slowly. But someday, I’d like to work with Mani Ratnam sir. I’ve always loved his films and wanted to work with him, and also Vijay and Ajith,” she signs off.
