Yuvan Shankar's wife Zafroon's new avatar

Zafroon Nizar, wife of ace music composer Yuvan Shankar Raja, has turned costume designer and is styling clothes for actress Raiza of Bigg Boss fame for her upcoming flick film Pyaar Prema Kaadhal (Love Love Love) which is coproduced by Yuvan. The film, which has yet another Bigg Boss contestant in Harish Kalyan as the male protagonist, is directed by Elan.

Unlike in Tamil cinema where wives of filmmakers and producers suddenly jump into the styling profession, Zafroon is a trained designer after completing a fashion-designing course in Dubai. Talking to DC, she says, “I have been designing for a long time and yes this is my debut venture into films. I am really excited. I am taking care of Raiza's looks only.”

So, how do you go about it? “I listen to the entire script and study the character of the particular actor I am deigning. And in PPK Raiza plays a pretty looking happy girl. She is a model and well-dressed girl. Accordingly, I designed her clothes.”

Sharing her opinion on the present scenario on if styling is taken seriously in Tamil cinema, she said, “Many think that a stylist/costume designer is required only for big budget and period films. It is not so! Within a given budget, any efficient stylist would bring in the necessary looks needed for the film's genre.”

Going back to budget she says, “Just because my husband is involved in production, I did not take any liberties. They gave me decent budget and my challenge was to create the best costumes out of it. But, I was given lot of freedom. I also had lot of scope to display my creativity (smiles.” The young fashion designer is also launching her own textile brand soon.
