After Maayavi, Jyothika has dubbed her own voice in Magalir Mattum, says director Bramma in an interview with  DC.  He also reveals  how Jyothika learnt to ride a Bullet for her role of Prabhavathi, a documentary filmmaker, and how all the lead ladies — Uravsi, Bhanupriya and Saranya — bonded on the sets without any inhibition.

“When I went and narrated the script to Jyothika madam, she was totally drawn into it. She became serious at a few moments, and was laughing at a few others, which gave me confidence that she would do the film,” Bramma starts his conversation.

The Kuttram Kadithal director says that Magalir Mattum is based on a real life incident, akin to his earlier film. Also, most of the actors took part in a workshop conducted by him. “Since Jyothika essays the role of a documentary filmmaker, I wanted to give her a makeover. At the same time, I ensure that she is the same old Jyothika who fulfills her fans’ expectations. She learnt to ride a bike for the film, and also dubbed her own lines for MM after a long gap. She would take her dialogues the previous day, rehearse them the whole night and come prepared the next day! Her dedication was amazing.”

Recalling how Urvasi was so scared to sit ride pillion with Jyothika, the director said, “There’s a scene where Urvasi madam had to pillion-ride with Jyothika  in Agra. But she was very hesitant and said that sentimentally it wouldn’t work out if she sat on a bike. We had to coax her and asked her to give it a try — without letting her know we were shooting! But actually we did,  and it turned out to be good.”

“All the actresses including Jyothika, Saranya, Urvasi, Bhanupriya shared a great bond on the sets and the entire unit felt like as if they were at a picnic!” Bramma concludes.
