A laugh-riot in the making

Vishnu Vishal has no hesitation in calling a spade a spade. In a chat about his upcoming film Kathanayagan, directed by Muruganantham, he reveals more about what audience can expect from the upcoming comedy drama. “More than the storyline of the film, the screenplay and the comical element of Kathanayagan is the highlight,” he begins.
“I would request audience not to have Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran in mind while coming to this film. The ‘Pushpa Purushan’ comedy segment of VVV has become a part of pop culture now. However, the upcoming fim is different — it will be a nice straight forward romantic and comedy entertainer.”
Talking about the key point of the Kathanayagan, he says, “Of course, we have Vijay Sethupathi coming in two scenes, which will show his funny side. STR sir has given a voiceover in the start of the movie. Also, Motta Rajendran sir is coming as a singer in the film, and Anand Raj sir is playing a Dubai sheik — this sounds funny even when you think about it.”
On Catherine Tresa, he says, “Like in Madras, she is portrayed as a dominating character in the film. We’ve even used a dialogue from that movie in our film. So, it is filled with such small bits of comic reliefs.”
“Sean Roldan’s music complements the feel of the movie. The lyrics are casual and light-hearted. Anirudh Ravichander has sung a number as well. We have made a movie which is light hearted and entertaining and we are confident that it will work,” he quips.
Vishnu has already completed other projects such as Silukkuvarpatti Singham. He will start shooting for a film titled Pon Ondru Kandaen soon.
