Malayalam is a beautiful language: Amy Jackson
Amy says that she is very nervous about how she will be received, but admits it was a great journey working with Theri team.
While British beauty Amy Jackson is known for her glamorous roles and enjoys a huge commercial popularity in south as well as Bollywood cinema, for the first time, she is sporting a de-glam character of a Malayali teacher in her upcoming movie Theri with Vijay, which hits the cinema halls today. With a total image makeover of tomboyish haircut with a pair of nerdy eyeglasses, Amy says that she is very nervous about how she will be received, but admits it was a great journey working with Theri team.
“Theri is definitely one of the memorable roles that I have ever done. It is totally different from the kind of characters I have donned so far. There’s a lot of scope for performance rather than just being a mere heroine in a big hero’s film”, Amy starts her conversation with DC.
So, how was it mouthing Malayalam dialogues? “It was as unfamiliar as I started with Tamil in K’town. It was tough and I had to really work hard. But all said and done, Malayalam is a beautiful language and I had an AD to assist me in getting my lines correct. Thanks to my dubbing artiste Raveena who has given life and depth to my character. She has done a wonderful job”
Sharing space with the kid star Nainika (actress Meena’s daughter), Amy said, “Working with children is a challenging task. Sometimes, they outsmart you. She was quick to grasp and a talented child. I have many combo scenes with Vijay and Nainika”.
Vijay is known for his dancing prowess. How was it taking a jig for the songs including the number Raangu in Theri. With a grin the I star says, “ Even I am aware that Vijay is a dancing sensation. I was very scared initially as how to match up to his speed and elegance, as I am not a trained dancer. Only recently, I started learning kathak. And the steps were also tough, but choreographer Sheriff helped me a lot in getting my movements and steps correct”.
Talking about her teaming up with Superstar Rajinikanth in 2.O, a sequel to Enthiran she said, “It was an awesome experience working with Rajini and Shankar. I had completed few schedules with Rajini and Akshay Kumar”.
Amy is also equally thrilled that her B’town journey is going smooth. “In Bollywood, I am working on a project with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in Sohail Khan’s direction” she signs off!
