I was impressed by Charlie: Madhavan
Madhavan, who returned with a bang recently with Irudhi Suttru will reprise Dulquer Salman's role in the Tamil remake of Charlie.
Of late, Malayalam remakes are hot in the K’town circuit. With several movies, including Jyothika’s 36 Vayadhinile, Kamal Haasan’s Papanasam and Arya’s Bangalore Naatkal being remakes of super-hit Mollywood films, here is yet another feel-good tantalising romantic drama — Charlie, which was also a box-office blockbuster, set to be remade in Tamil. Though we had already reported the news earlier, now it has been made official!
Madhavan, who returned with a bang recently with Irudhi Suttru will reprise Dulquer Salman’s role in the Tamil remake of Charlie. Wielding the megaphone is director Vijay of Madrasapattinam fame, known for handling such breezy romantic flicks.
When contacted, Madhavan, who has resolved to act in more Tamil films said, “Yes, I have gone on board for the Tamil remake of Charlie. We are yet to finalise the heroine. I think it is too premature to talk about it except that we are working hard on the script.”
Given the fact that Maddy is picky about his scripts, we ask him if he had watched the original movie. “Yes, I did and only after watching did I give it my nod,” he quips.
Vijay tells DC, “I am happy to collaborate with Madhavan sir. We both liked the whole idea of Charlie. Of course, I am doing few changes in the script to suit the Tamil sensitivity. The soul of the film is Maddy’s character, which can never change, and we are retaining it. I am presently busy with Devi(l) and the new project is to commence only in November this year, hence I am yet to sit in a full-fledged manner.”
“Madhavan was our first and foremost choice as a hero — his versatile image will go a long way towards determining the course of the film,” adds Shruti Nallapa, co-producer of the movie.
