Vishal suspended from TFPC
Reportedly in the interview, Vishal had blamed producers and the council for not being proactive in solving major problems in the film industry.
In an unprecedented move in the history of Tamil cinema, on Monday, the Tamil Film Producers Council (TFPC), the supreme body of Tamil film industry announced that they are temporarily suspending actor and producer Vishal and his banner Vishal Film Factory from the council.
In a statement issued from TFPC, it is said,”Few months back, Vishal had made derogatory remarks in an interview to a vernacular magazine which has spoiled the image and decorum of Producers Council. We sent a show cause notice on September 2nd asking for an explanation for his comments on the council. Since we were not happy with his reply — and after a discussion with the members during an executive meeting that was held on November 12 — it was unanimously decided to temporarily suspend Vishal, the owner of Vishal Film Factory from his primary membership.”
Reportedly in the interview, Vishal had blamed producers and the council for not being proactive in solving major problems in the film industry. He had said, “The council never come together and discuss burning issues like piracy, how to incorporate new methods like selling the official DVD of a film, giving single telecast of satellite rights within a month of the film’s release, DTH rights, to increase the revenue, etc. On the other hand if someone says that a hero owes '50 lakhs to him/her and requests them to mediate, immediately they will assemble and discuss the issue eating and enjoying over bondas and bajjis!”
He also added that if need arises, he would contest in TFPC’s forthcoming elections, which is scheduled for January 2017.
