Joining the long list of Tamil films centred around north Chennai is the upcoming project Koottali. The film, directed by debutant SK Madhi, revolves around the youngsters who are into seizing vehicles of those who haven’t paid off their loans. Director Madhi says, “Even though there are many films based out of the area, I’m touching upon a profession that everyone knows of, but hasn’t explored. The plot of the film is inspired by the people I have personally seen and interacted with.”

The film has an ensemble cast with actors like Aruldoss, Kausalya, Appukutty, etc. Sathish and Krisha Kurup playing the lead roles. Talking about how he managed to get a huge cast on board, Madhi says, “They all liked the script and have shot for their portions with utmost dedication. It’s the first film for many of these actors, but they have done a great job.” The film has been fully shot in and around Chennai, and has been completed after undergoing many hurdles.

Says Madhi. “First, it was demonetisation, then Vardah, then the CM’s death and the political issues that followed. But we have managed to complete the film and we are in the post-production stage. It will be up for release within the next couple of months.”
