In the wake of Mersal facing many issues before its release, Vijay has paid a visit to Tamil Nadu CM Edappadi K. Palaniswami, which has garnered the attention of Tamil audience. Many speculated that the visit has a lot to do with Mersal being in trouble, as the film is facing many issues of late.

The recent trouble for the film come from the quarters of an animal welfare group, which has raised questions about animals being used to make the film.
However, reports claim that the actor has met the leader to thank for reducing the state entertainment tax from 10 per cent to 8 per cent.

The double taxation that exists in Tamil Nadu has hit the industry badly, and strikes of multiplxes and single screen theatres have hit the film business heavily.

The state government has finally raised to the occasion and has brought down the state taxation of films in the state by two per cent. There are no new Tamil releases  since October 6 till today.

And as a grateful gesture Vijay has met the CM, stated rumours. Mersal will hit the screens for this Diwali.
