Vishal wanted to do the villain role in Irumbu Thirai when I pitched the subject to him to produce it under his banner. He was so impressed with the plot that he not only agreed to bankroll it, but also opted to do the powerful baddie character,” director Mithran reveals to DC. The film has Samantha Akkineni as Vishal’s pair and veteran actor Arjun was roped in to essay the villain. Talking about how he made changes to suit Vishal’s hero image, Mithran says, “My idea was to cast another hero, if Vishal likes the story and agrees to produce. But it went otherwise (laughs). He loved the villain role and evinced interest to portray it. Then I had to convince him that he does the lead protagonist and made changes accordingly. The film has a military backdrop and from an ordinary man’s character, I made Vishal’s role a military man.”

Heaping praises on the Avan Ivan actor, he says, “Vishal gave me a lot of freedom and without hesitation he was providing me the kind of things I wanted during its making. It is he who suggested that we cast big actors and also rope in big technicians. He was more concerned about the outcome.” The director adds that the film will expose the mysteries and crimes and repercussions caused in social media. “It has a larger relevance in today’s scenario.”

On Samantha’s role he says, “You will not see the routine heroine in Sam, she would be playing a role which has a lot of bearing. I can’t reveal much at this point of time.” While Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music composer, George C. Williams is behind the camera and Ruben does the editing.
