Balancing the act
However, Dhilip pauses and admits he found acting a bit challenging.
We had reported earlier that stunt choreographer Dhilip Subbarayan, who has appeared onscreen quite a few times in crucial action sequences, will debut as an actor in the spoof fantasy thriller Sangu Chakkram. Dhilip, son of stunt coordinator Subbarayan tells us, “Though this is the first time that I am playing a full-fledged role as the lead, I had essayed a villain in Ulkuthu. I equally enjoy acting and doing choreography.”
However, Dhilip pauses and admits he found acting a bit challenging. “In Sangu Chakkram, I have tried comedy. I learnt that it’s serious business. Of course, I did homework to get the timing right,” he adds. Sangu Chakkram, directed by Mareesan, is about eight children who get involved in several funny encounters. In fact, the film has no heroine. Actor Nishesh, of Pasanga 2 fame, will play one of the eight leads. Vishal Chandrasekar will compose music for this film.
Speaking more about the film, Dhilip says that an ancient Afro-Brazilian martial art called Capoeira will be used in its climax fight scene. “The anatomy of the fight has changed. So, packaging things in a different style makes a lot of difference. We roped in Jeremy Roske, an all-rounder of sorts in the film. He is an actor, martial artiste, dancer, fitness trainer and musician. Jeremy specialises in the art form that combines elements of acrobatics, dance and music. He put his skills to good use on the sets. I believe this is the first Tamil film to include such movements and the art form,” he concludes.
