Prashanth's next is 'Johny'
Meanwhile, the Jeans star is also set to re-enter Bollywood with the remake of Vijay Antony's Tamil hit Naan.
Prashanth was last seen in an action comedy film — Saagasam, which didn’t fare well at the box-office. The actor has quietly moved on to his next — an action thriller titled Johny, which is the title of Superstar Rajinikanth’s yesteryear blockbuster. Confirming the news to DC, Prashanth’s father, actor/ producer Thiagarajan, says, “Yes, the shooting is on now. Debutant director Vetriselvan, who previously assisted Jeeva Shankar, has been brought on board to wield the megaphone. Mumbai girl Ananya Soni, who has also bagged a film in Telugu, will be debuting opposite Prashanth.” Reportedly, the makers have taken permission to use Johny as the title from its earlier producers.
Meanwhile, the Jeans star is also set to re-enter Bollywood with the remake of Vijay Antony’s Tamil hit Naan. He made his debut in Hindi with I Love You, which was a remake of his Tamil debut, Vaigasi Porandhachu. “Impressed with Jeeva Shankar’s Naan, I bought it’s Hindi remake rights from Vijay Antony. We became close friends, and later he even offered me a powerful role of a political kingmaker in Yaman.”
Having said this, Thiyagarajan says the Hindi project has already commenced with Prashanth’s portions. “We are yet to finalise the heroine and rest of the cast,” he discloses.
In the meantime, a picture of Prashanth with popular biker Alisha Abdullah, which she has posted on her social media accounts, had gone viral recently. Alisha captioned the photo saying “Meeting him after ages. Upcoming project coming soon. Stay tuned — a very big and interesting one for the public :)” (sic).
When queried if Prashanth is doing any film with the biker, Thiagarajan was clueless. “No, Not at all! I haven’t seen her posts as both Prashanth and I are busy shooting.”
