Movies like Ajith-starrer Billa, Sarath Kumar’s Jaggubhai and Rajinikanth’s Kabali have their core story set in Malaysia. Now, here is yet another movie Ghilli Bambaram Goli, which has been completely shot in Malaysia, as well!

The movie, directed by Manoharan, talks about the friendship between three guys and a girl from different backgrounds, who come to Malaysia to earn their living. Newcomers Tamizh, Prasad, Naresh, Santhosh Kumar and Bengaluru girl Deepti Shetty play the lead roles.

Talking about the film, the director says, “It’s about these friends who get caught in a predicament and are forced to leave the country by the scheming villain. While they still remain in hiding, the foursome hatch a plan to expose the baddie without violence and with the help of equipment used in amateur sports played in rural Tamil Nadu — namely ghilli, bambaram and goli forms the rest”.

He also reveals that there are no romance or duet songs in the movie. Manoharan also recalls a weird experience they encountered while shooting — “We were shooting at a place in Putrajaya, around 120 feet above ground level.

Some of the technicians and comedian Ganja Karuppu got sick and almost fainted! We thought it was due to the excessive heat. Later, some of the locals told us that the place is famous for its supernatural presence, which might have caused this!”
