Rajinikanth calls Taramani a bold film'
Rajinikanth also watched the movie recently and had remarked that it was a bold attempt.
Taramani, the female-centric movie which released last Friday, has opened up to highly positive reviews and is regarded a success at the box-office. For a film which was in the making for four years, Taramani has proved a point that a well-made movie with intriguing content will be lapped up by audiences. Rajinikanth also watched the movie recently and had remarked that it was a bold attempt. He also had words of praise for producer JSK who debuted as an actor with a cameo in the film.
Speaking at the press meet of the movie, Ram said, “I have completed a decade in Tamil cinema and so has Andrea and JSK. It was for the first time theatre owners called up and told us, ‘People are coming in large numbers to the theatres and we are confident that it would collect good money and become a box office hit!’ This did not happen for my earlier movies.”
He added, “When movies like Mani sir’s Oh Kadhal Kanmani which was on living-in-relationships and Karthik Subbaraj’s Iraivi which talked about feminism released, I thought Taramani’s content may go outdated. The society’s perception kept changing in the four years we waited. There was no Whatsapp when I started the script! So, we incorporated it only in the second half.”
Yet another situation that got Ram shaken was when JSK suddenly announced that Taramani would release on August 11 along with Vivegam (earlier reported to hit the theatres on August 10). “I was very upset and angry. I told him how unwise it was to have our film release alongside Vivegam. But it was Andrea who convinced me saying that both the films have contrasting storylines and asked me not to worry about it. She also added that atleast our film would finally see the light of the day which itself will pave way for its success.”
