Vidya's Tumhari Sulu to get a Tamil remake and this actress will step into her shoes
Jyothika has focused on yet another award winning role in the remake of Vidya's hit flick Tumhari Sulu.
Flush with the accolades pouring in for her tough cop role in Naachiyaar, which was released on Friday, Jyothika quickly signed yet another film where she would reprise the character national award winner Vidya Balan portrayed. After choosing to act in 36 Vayadhinile, a remake of Manju Warrior’s Malayalam blockbuster How Old Are You, Jyothika has focused on yet another award winning role in the remake of Vidya’s hit flick Tumhari Sulu. Directing the Tamil version will be Radha Mohan, who gave Jyothika her career defining role of a deaf mute in Mozhi.
Sources confirm that Jyothika, who is choosy about her roles in the comeback segment of her career, was very impressed with Vidya Balan’s role of a middle class ambitious housewife who turns a radio jockey on a late night relationship advice show. In an earlier interview to this newspaper, Jyothika had said that she would be signing only meaningful roles with a social message. it is not clear as who bought the remake rights and is producing the film now but Jyothika could be a winner with this role too. Vidya Balan won critical acclaim for her alluring portrayal of a housewife-RJ besides garnering several awards. The director of Tumhari Sulu also received critical praise from one and all.
The makers have fittingly chosen Radha Mohan to direct the Tamil remake of TS, after all he was the one who gave Jyothika Mozhi which fetched her many awards and reportedly her performance took her very close to national award for Best Actress, but she lost it by a narrow margin then. Presently, Jyothika is busy with Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam at ECR in the city.
