I am excited about my debut film: Yamini
... says Coimbatore-based Yamini, who is acting opposite Ishaara Nair and Vinod Kishan in the film Papparapaam.
Coimbatore-based Yamini, who is awaiting the release of her debut Tamil film, is on cloud nine. Her film Papparapaam, directed by debutante Sasikumaran, is in the post-production stage and will be released later this year. Though she plays one of two female leads, her role is as strong as the other heroine’s. “Ishaara Nair is the other female lead and Vinod Kishan of Vidiyum Munn fame plays the hero. We shot the film in Ooty and Chennai. The film is about a man who returns to life during his funeral procession,” she says.
Yamini is a model and VJ in addition to being an IT professional — “This is my first feature film and I am really excited about it. I always wanted to become an actor. So, when I got the opportunity, I just grabbed it. I had a screen test and the director was really impressed with my acting, so I bagged the role,” says Yamini.
Though she is a full-time IT professional, she balances her career and acting — “I am eagerly awaiting the release of Papparapaam. I want to know the audience’s response to the film. I haven’t signed any other film for now, but will definitely take up roles that interest me,” she adds.
How does she manage her modelling and VJ assignments? “It’s been a while and I have learnt to balance everything. Moreover, It has become a way of life for me now.”
She adds that her dream role is one that would connect with her real life personality very well. “I want to do some good character roles. Like any other newbie, I am in awe of Mani Ratnam’s and Gautam Menon’s bodies of work. They are just out of this world,” she states, adding that actor Arya is her childhood muse. “I have been his die-hard fan since class nine and still enjoy his acting. He has a special charisma. Also, I am looking forward to act with him in the future,” she sums up with a grin.
