Sayyeshaa upbeat about Vanamagan

Bollywood actress Sayyeshaa, who  started her acting career with Telugu movie Akhil, and then moved on to B’wood with Ajay Devgan film Shivaay, is all excited about her Tamil debut Vanamagan, with Jayam Ravi. In an interview with DC, she talks about her interesting role in the film and a lot more.

“I play Kavya, an innocent modern girl from an affluent family, who has not seen many struggles in her life. She then comes across this tribal man (played by Jayam Ravi), and the intertwining of the two different characters is what the film is about. Thanks to Vijay sir for giving me a strong character showcasing various facets of my personality,” she begins.

Talking about her groovy moves that stunned Prabhudheva, she says, “I am trained in classical and various styles of dancing right from my childhood. Initially, I didn’t know that Prabhudheva sir was choreographing my song. When many told me that he is a tough taskmaster, I didn’t feel the pressure, as I am passionate about dance!”

She quickly recalls, “There was a particular movement in the song, which was very challenging. He had performed that move for one of his songs in the ‘90s. Since I got it right in my first take, he was very happy and complimented me.”
Ravi is a down-to-earth person despite his big stature, Sayyeshaa quips. “The amount of hard work he put in to pull off the tough role was amazing.”

On director Vijay, she adds, “He extracts exactly what he has in mind from his cast. He is even particular about the looks of the artistes. He is very friendly, and it was an enriching experience working with him.”

As we quiz her about glam outfits, she discloses, “Basically it is my mom, who designs the costumes for me. She is concerned about my clothes and always tries to keep it basic and modern to go with the scenes. Glamour is fine with me, as long as what you wear looks good on you without being vulgar.”

How fluent are you in Tamil now, we ask? — “I am a quick learner and I can speak good Telugu now! In Vanamagan, there are so many dialogues. In the climax, I had to speak a three-page monologue in a single shot. I managed successfully.”

When asked how she feels about bagging her second Tamil project before her debut film could hit the marquee, she exclaims, “I think I am blessed. There are two big stars, Vishal and Karthi in Karuppu Raja Vellai Raja and I am the solo
heroine.”
