Andhra Pradesh woman's rendition of O Chelia' goes viral, ARR compliments her
However, one Sarath Santhosh who follows ARR has revealed the identity of the woman.
The video of a Telugu woman from Andhra Pradesh singing O Cheliya from Premikudu, the Tamil version of Ennavale Adi Ennavale from the 1994 film Kadhalan in A.R. Rahman's composition, has gone viral.
The original song was rendered by ace Unnikrishnan in his debut playback singing in Tamil and even fetched him a national award. Impressed by her voice and singing talents after watching the video, Rahman who was not aware of her whereabouts, shared it on his Facebook, commenting, "Unknown, anonymous, beautiful voice".
However, one Sarath Santhosh who follows ARR has revealed the identity of the woman. He replied to Rahman — “Her name is Baby from Vadisaleru Village, East Godavari District, Andhra Pradesh. Music Director Koti gaaru gave her a chance few days ago seeing this clip”.
That's indeed big news, which was made possible because none other than the Oscar winner acknowledged Baby's talents. And one may recall a similar incident that occurred few months back. Rakesh Unni, the plantation worker from Kerala, a fan of Shankar Mahadevan whose casual singing video of Unnai Kaanadhu Naanum from Vishwaroopam went viral and he became an overnight sensation. The composer of the song Shankar Mahadevan had picked it up and posted it on Facebook, enquiring who this talented singer was.
“This is called fruit of labour! ?When we hear this, it just makes me feel so proud of our country that produces so much talent and is so rich in culture,” he posted. Later Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan called him to his office and made him sing the song in front of him.
