An upcoming film titled Theru Naaigal, directed by debutant Hari Uthraa, deals with farmer issues and the rise of corporate intervention as the core of its story. Starring new faces Pratheek and Akshatha, in the lead roles, Theru Naaigal also has Mime Gopi, Imman Annachi and Theri Dheena as part of its cast.

“It’s hard for a newcomer to find a producer. My film also has controversial issues as its subject, which further made the task hard. However, I Creations trusted the content and came forward to fund it,” says director Hari Uthraa.

The film recently passed the certification board with a U certificate. “However, they were skeptical at first about the content and thought it was against the government, as it takes on the issues of methane extraction. However, when we explained that the film doesn’t criticise anyone but depicts the reality, they were satisfied,” states Hari.

Further throwing light on the story, he says, “There is a romance sequence as well, but that is not the focus. The script mainly deals with the corporate interventions in agriculture and the effects of it.”

The makers are looking forward to releasing the film in the first week of July, and will release the music, composed by newcomer Harish Sathish, in the coming week.
